Youth and Cinema Today- A "Premam" review

Thanks to Mr. Toms Thomas, who has written about the deteriorating cultural values in today's cinema, I thought of posting my own review of the movie (which was earlier published in FB and was stoned at and now I am publishing it here!  )

Disclaimer: The following post may be a little harsh for all those Premam movie Fans and you may read it only if u wish to. Please do not post any unnecessary or derogatory comments on my wall.

Was one of the unfortunate victims to watch Premam movie some days back ! Feeling surprised at the deteriorating cultural values among the youth of the State, which is clearly depicted in the movie. The hero is a clear loser who is a drunkard and smoker and his only job is to fall in love with any girl who smiles at him! All his friends are seen either drinking or smoking or indulge in spontaneous gunda acts and then advising him about how to impress the girl. Even worse, his father himself is a semi gunda, who shouts back at the Principal for suspending his son due to drinking in class! (And that's the kind of dad, today's youth wants, rite?!)
In the end, the hero is shown as a Cafe owner (thanks to having a rich dad ,probably) , who again falls in "love" with a girl who comes to buy cake there! And the funny part is the girl also accepts him without much thinking! Infact, all the heroines in this movie are just "dolls" who seem to be not having any individuality. Are girls today like that? Even the Malar teacher is just an ordinary teacher who is ready to help her students in crisis! I guess any teacher would do that! And guess what? the hero thinks she is in love with him! t
But the movie is a superhit - coz it can relate to the average Mallu men. Especially the current generation who think that any female is approachable! The hero in this movie falls in love with his own teacher ,because she is good looking! How pathetic is our state of affairs !
I guess its high time, Censor board should issue one more "Statutory Warning " just like cigaratte smoking in cinema - " Youth can get misleading ideas and lose moral values"
But I appreciate the director - coz he is a clever man , who knows the average "koothara" psycho of men in Kerala and portrayed it in the best possible way to bring the crowd to the theatre. He is also a good marketer, who kept the demand hype by not even releasing the songs or proper trailer before ! The only thing watchable is Nivin pauly as well as the girl who comes as the teacher - especially the dance choreography. And yes, the bits of comedy was laughable. But on the whole , the movie is too dragging with a storyline that could be better told as a short film!
I guess, I am not the only person, who has felt disappointed considering the big hype created in social media and in newspapers as well !
The so called movie based on love or "premam" is not so deep or involved one .I really wonder whether the hero actually knows what is love! In the end, there is a Voice over, which says that just like the butterfly which helps in pollination, love helps in uniting man n woman! And that simply means - reproduction! Yes, that's specifically a physical need gratification which every human being aspires for !

Is that all Life is all about? Is that all the youth is bothered about today? Don't the youth need better orientation ?
