Elephant Exhibition Mania

Even after so much of bad news regarding elephant rampage, I see that the usage of Elephants in festivals and other occasions are increasing!
And guess what, Even Churches nowadays are having Elephants for processions.(I dont know about mosques)

I think, its high time that we stop this torture-- both for the animal and for innocent humanbeings - in the name of religion and tradition, this is nothing but huge business.

Recently I read that the pet elephant of one of the famous film star is now sick and not getting the required attention. Poor thing, he was a pet of the star when he was young and when he grew up, he became a pure business animal- working hard , moving from place to place without rest .

Two days back , the elephant rampage in a temple killed three innocent ladies. the Reason :- the elephant did not have one side eyesight. Somebody scratched his belly and he thought it was danger. He got irritated and gave blows with his trunk, which unfortunately killed 3 and injured many in the stampede that followed!  It was actually another small elephant , which was chained so close to this guy. It seems, the organisors had paraded 7 elephants into a small space where it was really congested.

I always wonder- How will we feel , if we are chained , asked to wear silk saree and heavy ornaments everyday and stand in front of a group of people for 3-4 hours.? And moreover, imagine we are deaf on one side and we are asked to listen loud noise of beating drums in hot sun.. And after all this, we get to eat some palm leaves and not even sufficient water to drink! If I am asked to do this, I will be surely killing the first person coming near me!! But, you know what, elephants have great patience!

Its quite natural for the animal to lose its control. But where is human being, who claims to control everything? What control he can bring to these kinds of atrocities? Where are the so-called "Elephant lovers" and "Animal lovers". They will be the first one to stand in the row to see the "Pooram".

I have Decided from Today onwards - I will NOT attend or go to watch any Pooram , where elephants are paraded..
I believe, No real gods will be displeased with my decision..

If I want to see elephants - I would go to the place where they belong -
the Forests!!

I think, if many of the educated people dare to take this decision, we can help save many young elephants who are separated from  their mothers, tortured and trained to become cash cows under chain for their lifetime.

Think about it!
Bye for now,

CeeVee , Jan 2013

P.s: But hey, i was just wondering, how to curb the usage of elephants for shop openings, advertisements, road shows, marriages etc etc.. I am clueless!!

P.S 2:Just a wild imagination: I think, somebody should make a Sci-fi movie where elephants join together and make a plot against human beings and they attack the Newyork city with high fi weapons!!. Only such a threat can help to stop this kind of parading, I guess! There should be romance, sentiments , fight sequence and Atlast, they can sing a song of Freedom too!!!- Saying,YES WE ARE LIBERATED FROM HUMANS !!! .........
hmmm, hey,if at all any movie comes out in this manner, the copyright is mine ok!!!
