Soil Phobia

Children these days are not let into the soil. By soil, I mean both in physical terms and in  metaphorical terms.

Children are not let to play in soil these days for fear of bacteria – in physical terms .

Children are not let to know the problems of the soil – in metaphorical terms ( By problems of soil, I mean , sickness, old age, poverty etc )

We thus create a utopian world for the children and in the process, they lose immunity: physical immunity, emotional immunity and spiritual immunity.

Hence they fall sick easily –physically, emotionally and spiritually.

As the Great Indian Poet Rabindranath Tagore has said in his Githanjali

“The child who is decked with prince's robes and who has jewelled chains round his neck loses all pleasure in his play; his dress hampers him at every step.

In fear that it may be frayed, or stained with dust he keeps himself from the world, and is afraid even to move.

Mother, it is no gain, thy bondage of finery, if it keep one shut off from the healthful dust of the earth, if it rob one of the right of entrance to the great fair of common human life.”

Think whether you, as a parent, give your children the necessity immunity power? Do you let your son and daughter face the heat and dust of the earth, the people and the environment?

Otherwise, let me tell you my dear, you are actually curbing their freedom and their right to live fully!

P.S: Most of these insecurity and aversion to the soil has been created by the marketers and media, I would say.

Soil (physical terms):  The moment you switch on the TV, you see Ads saying that there are “TEN Skin Problems, TWENTY Bacterial problems , 100 varieties of insect problems etc and the ultimate solution : THEIR product!”

Soil (metaphorical terms) : Media projecting the news(paid news?) of big business concerns and the marketers , ignoring  those items of poor people with "no news value"!!!
